FAQ
What is the cost of an estimate?
Estimates are free! One of our stair experts will meet with you, in the comfort of your home, to discuss your ideas for your existing space and work within your budget to help you make your dream stair a reality. The free estimate covers one meeting in your home. Any additional meetings, requested by the homeowner, will be billed $200, payable upon the visit. The amount will be credited to your signed estimate.
How soon will I receive my bid?
In order to give you an accurate bid, we will first contact our vendors for the most up to date prices for your stair parts. You should receive your personal bid within 48 – 72 hours.
When does the bid expire?
Your personal bid will expire 14 days after the date it is written.
What are your payment requirements?
Generally, we require a 10% deposit of your bid amount, at the time that you sign your estimate. 30% is due upon delivery of materials and commencement of work on your project. The balance will be due in full upon completion of the job. Larger projects may require weekly progress payments.
How do I pay my invoice?
An invoice will be emailed to you, with a link to make payment. We accept payment by check, bank transfer or credit card.
What are my responsibilities?
You will be responsible to cover your furniture to protect from dust. Move any furniture, televisions, stereo equipment or hanging pictures, away from the work area. The installer will need to be able to park one vehicle, either on the street or in your driveway. If street parking is not available, a spot in your driveway will be required.
What will my bid cover?
You bid will cover demo of your existing stair system, complete installation of your new stair and cleanup of the stair area. We will not be responsible for the stain or painting of your new stair system.
Can you co-ordinate your project with my contractor?
Many times we will need to work with a flooring contractor before the flooring project begins. Depending on the design of your stair, there may be work that we will need to do, before the flooring is installed and then we will come back and finish our project.
Do you also install solid wood treads?
Yes, we can install your wood treads. Our wood treads are 1” thick hard wood. Many flooring companies install flooring on the treads. It really comes down to your personal preference.
What else do you do besides stairs?
We also do coffered ceilings, wainscoting, crown molding, bead board, T & G ceilings and whole house finish.
Do you paint or stain the finished stair?
We are not licensed or insured to paint and finish, we can refer you to a painter, upon request.
Once I accept the bid, when will the work begin?
Once we receive your signed bid, along with your 10% deposit, your job can be scheduled. The time that we start will depend on how soon our vendors will be able to deliver your stair parts and our work load at the time of your acceptance. Generally, we can start a new job within 1-2 weeks.
How long will it take to complete the stair?
This really depends on the stair system that you are installing. Generally, it will take 1 day for demo and another 1-3 days to install the stair system.
